Rich has been in the surety bond field since 1975. After graduating from Valparaiso University, he worked for Aetna Casualty and Ohio Casualty bond companies before becoming an independent agent/broker in 1982. He founded Anderson & Catania in 1988 in PA and in 1998 made Wilmington, DE the main office location.

Joseph T. Catania

Joseph T. Catania

President

Joe has been in the surety bond field since 1996. After graduating from Mount Saint Mary’s College, he worked for St. Paul/Seaboard Surety, Liberty Mutual Bond Service, and Atlantic Mutual in their surety operations.

In late 2003, he started on the agency/brokerage side with Marsh, Inc. Afterwards, Joe started a North Jersey office for Anderson & Catania in 2005 in Hackensack, NJ. Joe works in the Wilmington, DE office.

Gina Semonelle

Gina Semonelle

Gina began her surety career in 1995 with Cigna out of Wilmington, DE when they consolidated offices into a central location. During her time there, she was instrumental in helping to create and customize their bond operating system, all the while handling underwriting and processing duties. When Cigna decided to relocate the office in 2001, Gina joined Anderson & Catania. Gina handles many facets of the agency operations, including working with principals, underwriters and producers. Her responsibilities include management of new business placement as well as commercial and contract account maintenance.

Mary Lawrence

Mary Lawrence

Mary has been in the surety bond industry since 1981. After graduating from Berkeley College, she worked for a New Jersey based surety company managing their service operations. In early 2000, Mary started on the agency/brokerage side with Marsh Inc., in the role of Surety Team Leader. Her responsibilities included managing all aspects of the surety client’s day to day service relationship and ensuring all service needs were met with the highest standard of excellence.

Mary has significant experience and expertise in managing surety programs for large and small clients operating in both commercial and contract surety markets throughout the Eastern region and now works from our Oakland, New Jersey location.

Nancy Buck

Nancy Buck

Nancy began working in the surety field in 2006 when she joined the team at Anderson & Catania. As a licensed producer, she works with our commercial clients with an emphasis on contractor license, permit/compliance bonds, and collection agency/mortgage license bonds, implementing the NMLS system in our office.

Denise Medlar

Denise Medlar

Denise began her career in surety at Anderson & Catania after working in the construction industry for 15 years. Being the person to secure bid, performance, license and subdivision bonds, as well as facilitating information between the surety agent and business owners, prepared her. She is now a licensed surety agent and supports various commercial and contract accounts by issuing and renewing bonds. She is also your contact for accounts receivables, payables, and licensing.

Brent Headley

Brent Headley

Brent has been in the surety bond field since 1986. After graduating from West Virginia University, he spent a few years working in public accounting before moving to the surety bond industry. He began his career at USF & G in Raleigh, NC followed by a move to Pennsylvania for a position with Ohio Casualty. In 1993, he started on the agency/brokerage side in central PA, where he worked for two different agencies over the course of 20+ years. In 2015, Brent began working with Anderson & Catania in the Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania area.

Chris Smith

Chris Smith

Chris has been advising contractors on surety bonds since 2005. He plays an integral role as an external growth advisor and sounding board for surety bond decisions. Chris has a track record of producing breakthrough surety bond approvals when other agents simply could not see or could not produce the desired result. Chris works cooperatively with attorneys, accountants, and bankers to expedite problem-solving for his clients. Chris is most proud of the fact that his surety expertise has unlocked nearly $1 billion in new business opportunities, generating profits that resulted in several dozen entrepreneurs becoming first-generation millionaires.

Donzaleigh Powell

Donzaleigh Powell

Donzaleigh Powell is a Nashville native, well-versed in the art of developing meaningful business relationships across the construction and development community. Her extensive background in workforce development and her leadership roles implementing small business diversity initiatives have helped Donzaleigh build solid relationships with project owners, prime contractors, subcontractors, and product suppliers across Metropolitan Nashville. Donzaleigh is joined by a dynamic team of “bond-only” agents who leverage over 150 years of surety bond industry expertise to give her clients the best advice on the process of surety bonding. Donzaleigh prides herself on helping contractors make informed decisions about surety bonding that will help enhance their growth and profitability.
